Stay at The Martlet Inn

A stay at The Martlet Inn is all about switching off, unwinding, and enjoying the peace of the Somerset countryside. Our three comfortable letting rooms offer a relaxing base for families, couples and groups, with everything you need for a cosy night away. Each room includes free WiFi, TV, and tea and coffee facilities — and, of course, a warm welcome from our friendly team.

Whether you’re planning a quiet weekend escape, a walking break, or a few days exploring the local area, The Martlet makes the perfect home-from-home.

The Martlet Inn sits in the charming village of Langford Budville, surrounded by beautiful countryside and close to the River Tone. We’re just two miles northwest of Wellington and six miles from Taunton — perfectly placed for exploring the Quantocks, Exmoor, and the Blackdown Hills.

National Cycle Route 3 passes nearby, and Langford Heathfield Wildlife Reserve is a short walk away, making us a great choice for walkers and cyclists.

Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement, and there’s plenty of parking for overnight guests.

Easily accessible from the M5 (just five miles away), we’re also within easy reach of Bristol, Exeter, and the wider West Country.

This is a great Country Pub! The bar is well supplied with local ales and ciders. I particularly love the Otter Black, which is a lighter session Stout. I can drink it all night. The staff are friendly but very efficient. I have had dinner here several times now and it gets better and better each time. Excellent Sunday roasts are offered but every dish I have had is carefully put together and delicious.. As I live locally I haven't stayed but the rooms are very clean, tidy and well equipped. Good sized too from what I saw. All in all, a lovely pint, great food, cosy 'home from home feel' and a great place for a weekend break. Keep up the good work!

Sunday lunch for Mother's day, we could not fault the service and food, the four of us said it was the tastiest and best roast we've had for a long time, well worth a visit, we also liked that the alcohol was reasonably priced.

Popped in with my wife on a random Tuesday eve. Food was amazing and great options on the menu. Proper pub food, cooked well and served right. Will be back!

Great meal here during the week. Booked for 12.30pm but arrived at 12.10pm but this was not a problem. Would definitely go here again!

We dined at The Martlett Inn for an obligatory pub lunch after a soggy Sunday walk. We were greeted by friendly staff & a cosy atmosphere filled with chirpy fellow pint-searching punters (a clear sign we were in a popular place for good food!). Ambience was glowing, though an electric fake wood burner was questionable when there was also a real one in the centre of the room? But I digress, their electricity usage is not on the agenda today. The early signs were right… the service was rapid, kind & the food served was excellent. Probably one of the best cooked bits of beef I’ve had in a pub, generously served with lots of tasty veggies & potatoes. Very reasonably priced! In summary, fab service, delicious food, great ambience & a crisp pint -What more could you want?
